Privacy Policy
Kata is a weekly planner. Your tasks stay on your devices and in your own iCloud. We cannot read them, and there is no account to create.
What we collect
Your tasks and projects — not collected
Everything you write in Kata — tasks, notes, projects, areas, checklists — is stored in a database on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, Kata syncs that database to your own private iCloud storage using Apple's CloudKit private database. It travels between your devices and Apple's servers, under your Apple ID. Flowcraft has no access path to it. This is a property of how the app is built, not a promise about how we behave.
Kata works fully without an Apple ID. Sync simply pauses.
No account
Kata has no sign-up, no password, and no profile. We do not know who you are, and we do not want to.
Anonymous usage statistics
Kata may report anonymous, aggregate counts — how often a feature is used, which settings are active — so we can tell which parts of the app earn their place. These are counts and states, never identities. Nothing you write ever rides an event: no titles, no notes, no checklist text, under any circumstances. There is no advertising SDK, no cross-app tracking, and therefore no App Tracking Transparency prompt.
Your email address, only if you ask us for it
If you opt in to product updates — in Settings or on this website — we store your email address with our newsletter provider for that purpose alone. It is never linked to your app data or to usage statistics. Unsubscribing is one tap and takes effect immediately.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Kata verifies your entitlement on your device. We never see your payment details; we see aggregate sales reporting from App Store Connect.
Diagnostic logs
Kata writes technical logs on your device to help diagnose problems. Anything you have written is redacted from them by design, and they stay on your device unless you choose to send them to us.
Calendars, if you connect one
Calendar connections are off by default. Everything above stays literally true unless you turn one on.
Apple Calendar
Read and written on your device through Apple's EventKit, with the permission iOS asks you for. Nothing reaches us.
Google Calendar
If you connect Google Calendar, Kata syncs in both directions: tasks you schedule can appear as calendar events, and your events can appear against your week. This means the tasks you choose to sync are sent to Google's servers — that is what connecting a Google account does, and it is the one exception to everything above.
- The connection is made directly between your device and Google. We operate no server in between.
- Your Google access token is stored in your device's Keychain and deleted the moment you disconnect.
- Kata requests the narrowest calendar permission that makes the feature work.
- You can disconnect at any time in Settings, or revoke access from your Google Account permissions page.
Kata's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Calendar data is used only to provide the calendar features you can see in the app. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train any model.
Who else is involved
- Apple — App Store distribution, purchases, and iCloud sync of your own data.
- Google — only if you connect Google Calendar.
- Our analytics provider — anonymous, aggregate counts only.
- Our newsletter provider — only if you opt in, and only your email address.
- Vercel — hosting for this website.
There is no other backend. Data is encrypted in transit, and Kata's local database uses iOS data protection at rest.
Where your data goes
Flowcraft is based in India. Our providers operate internationally, so the limited data described above may be processed outside your country. Your tasks are not part of that: they move between your devices and your own iCloud, wherever Apple stores it for your account.
Keeping and deleting
- Erase All Data in Settings wipes the database on your device and purges Kata's data from your iCloud. It asks first, and it cannot be undone.
- Deleting the app deliberately leaves the iCloud copy in place, so reinstalling restores your week. Use Erase All Data for a true erase.
- Export gives you your entire database as a JSON file, at any time. Read access and export remain free forever, including after a subscription ends.
- Your email address, if you gave us one, is deleted from our newsletter provider when you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Because your tasks never reach us, most of these you exercise directly in the app — the export and erase controls above are more complete and more immediate than any request to us could be.
For the data we do hold — an email address, if you gave us one — write to hello@flow-craft.in and we will act on it.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, that address is also our grievance contact. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Kata is not directed at children and collects no personal data through ordinary use. We do not profile, track, or target anyone, at any age. Where the law sets an age for consent — India treats anyone under 18 as a child — please do not submit an email address to us without a parent or guardian's involvement.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and say so in the app's release notes. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
