FEATURE 01 — WEEK VIEW

The weekly planner that thinks in pages, not lists.

kata’s home screen is one page: seven days in a single vertical scroll, tasks and events laid out day by day, exactly like a paper weekly planner. There is no separate Today or Upcoming screen — the week is both.

kata week view on iPhone: September 2026, with Thursday the 24th highlighted as today

One scroll: this week, next week, the months after, Someday.

Scroll past Sunday and you reach next week, then the coming months, then a Someday list for things that aren’t solid yet. Nothing is hidden behind a tab.

Tap a day’s header to give that day a page of its own. The arrows step a week at a time, and tapping the month title brings you back to this one.

PINNED PROJECTS

Pin a project to the end of your week.

Working on one thing this month? Open the project, tap ••• and choose Pin to week, then choose Pinned under the week in Settings › Plan View. Its open tasks take the place of Upcoming and Someday at the foot of the week page, so what you’re building is always one scroll away — and you can drag a task straight onto a day.

Pin as many projects as you need; each keeps its own tray, with a line for typing a new task straight into it. Unpin from the same menu and Upcoming comes back. The Week widget shows the first pinned project’s progress.

Unfinished work rolls onto today. Automatically.

Didn’t get to it yesterday? It appears at the top of today with a small ↪ mark, so you never re-write a task. Tick it off, or pull the row to the right to give it another day or send it to Someday.

The accent colour is kept for today and for deadlines that are close. Everything else is ink on paper, so your eye lands where the work is.

The details

Seven days, one scroll
The week page runs Monday to Sunday, or Sunday to Saturday, as one continuous page. Every day is drawn, empty or not.
Quick add under any day
Tap the line under a day, type and press Return. The task lands on that day, and the line stays open for the next one.
A day of its own
Tap a day’s header to give that day a page of its own, with the same rows in the same order. Good for the morning coffee read.
Someday
A holding list at the foot of the week for tasks with no date. Drag one onto a day when it becomes real.
Week navigation
The arrows step a week at a time; tap the month title to come back. The week number and your score sit under the title.
Search and filter
Search task titles from the magnifier, or filter the page by priority, repeats or deadlines.
Pinned projects
Pin a project from its ••• menu and choose Pinned under the week in Settings: its open work sits where Upcoming and Someday were. The Week widget shows the first pinned project’s progress.

Questions about the week view

What does pinning a project do?

It puts that project’s open work under the seven days, where Upcoming and Someday usually sit, so the thing you are focused on is always one scroll away. Pin from the project’s ••• menu, then choose Pinned in Settings › Plan View › Under the week. Pin as many as you like, and unpin from the same menu.

Is there a Today view?

Today is the highlighted day on the week page, and tapping its header gives it a page of its own. There is no separate Today tab because the week already contains it — that is the whole point of planning on a page.

What happens to tasks I don’t finish?

They roll onto today and arrive at the top with a ↪ mark, oldest first; after that the order is yours. Nothing is lost and nothing needs re-typing. You can also send them to Someday or another day, or switch carrying off in Settings and leave them where they were.

Can I start my week on Sunday?

Yes. Settings › Appearance › Week starts on offers Monday or Sunday, and the score and Insights follow the same week.
