Five widgets. One question each.
The widget is kata’s daily re-entry point: glance, see the promise you made, tap into the day. Every widget answers exactly one question, and the interactive ones let you complete a task without opening the app.

Interactive on iOS 18 and later.
Tap the circle on Up next, Today or Week and the task is ticked in kata, without opening the app — the widgets, the week and the project all show it. The + opens a new task, filed to the Inbox.
Widgets follow your iPhone’s light or dark appearance, and keep their meaning on tinted and clear home screens.

The details
- This week
- Small, and a ring on the lock screen. The week’s execution score, with how many planned tasks are done: 13 of 19. Tap it to open Insights.
- Up next
- Small. The first open task on today, where it lives, and how many more are left; tap its circle to tick it. On the lock screen, the same in three lines.
- Today
- Medium. Today’s date and the week’s score, then as many of today’s tasks as fit and how many more are left. Every circle ticks its task.
- Week
- Large. The week’s score, a bar for each day filled by what you finished that day, today’s tasks, and your first pinned project’s progress. Open plan › opens the week.
- Capture
- Small and coral: the whole widget is a +. One tap opens a new task, filed to the Inbox.
- Every widget
- Drawn from kata’s own data, so the tasks, their order and the score are the week page’s. A + opens a new task; a tap anywhere else opens kata.
Questions about widgets
How do I add a kata widget?
Touch and hold your home screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose kata. On the lock screen, touch and hold, choose to customise it, and add kata to its widgets.
Can I tick a task off from a widget?
Yes, on Up next, Today and Week: tap the circle and the task is ticked in kata without opening the app, and its reminder is withdrawn. Tap again to un-tick it. The lock screen widgets show your score and what’s next, but don’t tick.
When do widgets update?
When you leave kata for your home screen, the moment you tick a task on a widget or mark a reminder done, and at the start of each day.
Do widgets follow dark mode?
They follow your iPhone’s light or dark appearance, and keep their meaning on tinted and clear home screens. The Capture widget is always coral.
