Help & FAQ
Short answers, grouped by what you’re doing. Each feature page goes deeper; support answers the rest.
Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. Open kata and start typing. If your iPhone is signed in to iCloud, your week syncs through it; if not, kata works on this iPhone alone.
Where do new tasks go?
Tap + and type. A task with nothing chosen lands in the Inbox; say a day — “friday” — and it lands on that day. Inside a project, + files into that project.
Where is the Today view?
Today is highlighted on the week page. Tap its header to give it a page of its own. The Week view page says why there is no separate tab.
Planning the week
How do I add a task to a specific day?
Tap the line under that day, or say the day in the capture card — “call mum sunday”. You can also drag any task onto a day, or pull a row to the right to pick one.
What does the ↪ mark mean?
The task was planned for an earlier day and carried forward unfinished. It arrives at the top of today, oldest first, and the mark goes when you finish it or give it a new day.
How do I set a task to repeat?
Open the task and tap ↻, or type it — “water plants every 3 days”, “call mum every sunday”. Repeats show a ↻ on the page and count toward your score once for each day they fall on.
What is Someday?
A list at the foot of the week for tasks without a date. Drag one onto a day when it becomes real. Someday tasks never count against your score.
How do I pin a project to the week?
Open the project, tap ••• and choose Pin to week, then choose Pinned in Settings › Plan View › Under the week. Its open work sits under the seven days where Upcoming and Someday were. Pin as many as you need, and unpin from the same menu.
Projects and boards
Can I nest projects?
kata keeps one level: Area → Project → Heading → Task, and a project can sit in an area or on its own. Use headings where you would reach for a sub-project.
How do I switch a project to a board?
Tap Board in the project’s header. Headings become columns; the project opens as a list again next time.
Where do completed projects go?
To the Log, on the day you finished — “project completed · 6 of 6 tasks” — and into its area’s LOGGED list. You can reopen it from either.
Sync, privacy and the App Store
Why is my week not syncing?
Check that both iPhones are signed in to iCloud with the same Apple Account, then open kata on both: changes arrive when the app comes to the front. Settings › Data says where sync stands in one line.
What data does kata collect?
None about your tasks. If you share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass crash reports on to us; if you email us, we keep your message to reply. The privacy policy has the full text.
How do I manage, cancel or refund a subscription?
Subscriptions and refunds are handled by Apple, not kata: in your iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions; refunds are at reportaproblem.apple.com. On a new iPhone, use Restore purchases in kata’s Settings › Subscription.
What happens if I stop subscribing?
Nothing is taken away: every page still reads and Export still works. Planning — adding, ticking and editing — needs the subscription.
Is there an iPad, Mac, Android or web version?
Not today. kata is built natively for iPhone and syncs through iCloud.
